Nuisance motorcycles and off-road bikes is an ongoing priority.

Status Update

Working with partners such as housing, we are collating details of bikes and descriptions of offenders. Through the use of CCTV, drones and fixed wing aircraft in conjunction with our road crime officers to track and locate offending bikes and offenders, a number of vehicle seizures and prosecutions have been made. We are continuing to use anti-social behaviour legislation to seize and destroy bikes as well as issuing Community Protection Warnings/Notices to tackle repeat offenders. This work is ongoing.

There is an emerging trend of suspects stealing mopeds and motorbikes parked outside or left insecure. Offenders are travelling around the city, crossing force areas to commit thefts and using balaclava's and cloned places to try and prevent identification.

Status Update

Due to the frequency and location of thefts across Newcastle and Stoke-on-Trent, dedicated officers are collating, managing and processing the intelligence and incidents as they are reported and coordinating proactive activity to prevent further offending and locate offenders. Analytics, CCTV, forensics and intelligence are being used to link and trace stolen/recovered bikes to offenders with a view to arrest and prosecute.

Both high visibility and plain officers operate in this area to provide a visible presence a proactive policing. Officers will continue to target identified areas and suspects as identified via crime trends and patterns and intelligence. The public are encouraged to report any signs of drug dealing.

High Visibility and Plain Clothes officers patrol in identified hotspot areas. Engagement with local business, use of CCTV, intelligence led Stop and Search and Warrants to search addresses used to tackle offending.
Members of public are encouraged to report any activity or information relating to Burglary or Stolen property. This can be done anonymously via the Crimestoppers website. Any reports of Burglary will be reviewed on a daily basis ensuring response from an officer, forensic consideration and scene enquiries are completed as soon as possible.
